UPDATE: Chairman Strawn's statement on lottery sale scheme

Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Matt Strawn has released the following statement upon receiving word that Governor Culver has tabled his plan to sell the Iowa Lottery:

"Today is a victory for common sense and transparency in government. I would like to thank our Republican leadership for shining a bright light on a budget gimmick and political payback that would have cost Iowa taxpayers over $2 billion. Governor Culver now needs to show leadership and denounce further budget gimmicks like his $700 million debt proposal."
